Thirty-five photographers from all over the world set out on a seven-day journey to discover the Philippines in October 1995. The pictures in this book, chosen from over 90,000, reveal life and landscape in huge variety: Catholic churches full of people strong in their faith, huge ranges of rice terraces farmed by people whose traditions have held firm over thousands of years, perfect white beaches fringed with coral reefs, and volcanoes that still rumble underfoot. But here too are cities of towering skyscrapers, factories producing sophisticated electronics, and depictions of a rapidly developing economy.
