John Bastin

John Bastin is Reader Emeritus in the Modern History of South-East Asia in the University of London. He was born in Australia but has lived most of his adult life in England and Europe. He is a graduate of the Universities of Melbourne, Leiden and Oxford and was foundation Professor of History and Dean of the Faculty of Arts in the University of Malaya. He is the author of numerous books and articles on the history of South-East Asia and is the leading authority on Sir Stamford Raffles.
