Hong Kong multi-billionaire Lui Che-woo started his first enterprise in difficult circumstances at the age of 13. Born in 1929 in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, at the age of 4, Lui Che-woo moved to Hong Kong with his family. During the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong he was expected to support the family. Beginning, aged 13, with a food manufacturing and distribution business, he went on to start and develop businesses in car parts, heavy machinery, quarrying, construction materials, construction and property developments, hotels and hospitality and gaming. Over the course of his career he has held a number of public posts, supported education and received numerous honours and awards. He is married with five children and lives in Hong Kong.
