Perak: 300 Early Postacards displays a rare and insightful view of the Malaysian state of Perak from the 19th and 20 centuries. Throughout the book, the history and beauty of Perak, Peninsular Malaysia's second-largest state, are brought to life through rare picture postcards from the author's personal collection.

These picture postcards vividly capture Perak's changing landscapes and townscapes, and are presented in a series of galleries: royalty and the royal capital, Kuala Kangsar; the state's administrative capital of Ipoh; the town of Taiping; and the very heart of Perak—its people, its economy and its flora and fauna. The book also provides an insight into the early production of picture postcards in Malaya, in general, and specifically, in Perak.

As a deltiological and philatelic record, Perak: 300 Early Postacards is a valuable collector's item. It is also a source of historical information, serving as a rich, visual document of a formative period in the development of Perak.

Professor Cheah Jin Seng is an avid philatelist and deltiologist, and is particularly well-versed in the postal history of Singapore and Malaya. Born in Penang, he is currently a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society of London and a Director of the Singapore Philatelic Museum. He is the author of Singapore: 500 Early PostcardsMalaya: 500 Early Postcards and Selangor: 300 Early Postcards and has also written and co-published several articles on the subjects of stamps, postcards and medicine in Singapore and Malaysia. By profession, Professer Cheah is a both Physician and an Endocrinologist.
