From a bird’s-eye view Malaysia spreads out like an endless green carpet: around seventy percent of the land area is covered by some of the world’s oldest and richest rainforest. Rice cultivation forms patch works throughout the peninsula, while the massive rubber and oil palm estates seemingly extend forever. Human settlements cluster along the rivers and shores in Sabah and Sarawak, forming a counerpoint to the impressive natural beauty of these East Malaysian states.
Guido Alberto Rossi and the other photographers have captured all this, as well as coastal regions and the urban landscapes of Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang and the other cities of Malaysia.

Guido Alberto Rossi was born in Milan in 1949. He is the manager of the Image Bank photo agency in Milan. He is himself a talented photographer specializing in pictures taken from the air. His main hobby is flying. His pictures were published in Rome from the Air, Venice from the Air, Florence from the Air, Tuscany from the Air, published by Editions Gallimard.
Tara Sosrowardoyo started his career in photography in 1977 as a stills photographer in the Indonesian film industry.
A joint or sole contributor of images to many books, Tara has also been featured in publications worldwide such as The New York Times, Time, GEO, Asiaweek, Newsweek, Marie Claire, and The New Yorker. He has shot multiple TIME (Asia) magazine covers and many portraits of influential figures in politics, business and the arts in Southeast Asia.
Tara has participated in numerous photography exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad. He has held solo exhibitions at the Victorian Arts Centre in Melbourne, Australia (1995); Gedung 28 in Jakarta, (2002); Valentine Fine Art gallery in Kuala Lumpur (2003) and at Zinc Gallery in Kuala Lumpur (2010). Tara is based in both Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.
